Thirteen tubs totaling about 709 pounds of butter were taken from the Braude creamery after entry through a basement window Monday night. The back door was propped open and a safe may have been tampered with. no clues or suspects identified as investigators urge greater security.
Mrs Senia Colbert daughter of Mr and Mrs William Wiley has been advanced to superintendent at White s Institute south of Wabash to serve while the former head is in California. The promotion reflects well on her competence and readiness for the role.

Charles Zimmerman, of the C. C. Carter farm east of town, injured Thursday forenoon while riding west to view a team of horses. His auto was struck by an interurban car. he was taken to Warsaw hospital and the fracture reduced. He likely will remain there for some time.
High school boys travel to Claypool for a Friday night basketball game. Both schools aim to win and expect a close, high-energy contest with a strong crowd.
Albert Laughman of the county south west of town was discharged from military service on Monday due to physical disability after leaving for Camp Taylor Kentucky on September 22. He arrived Tuesday evening and went to his country home saying he liked the place, received good care and had plenty to eat.
A family gathering in the northeast part of town honored Harve Holderman and his family from Elkhart. Mr. and Mrs. Helderman returned from North Manchester to a sumptuous noon dinner with Isaac Helderman and wife John Laughman and families Harvey Helderman Levi Helderman and families and James Sunday and family.

The funeral for Robert KE Flohr ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Flohr will be held Sunday forenoon at South Pleasant church. He died last Wednesday and the family was under quarantine so the service was delayed.
In a rain soaked Hempstead Plain camp 27 000 Rainbow division soldiers from 27 states prepared for embarkation to France. Damp tents and cold night gave way to seven bright Y M C A tents where men from Iowa Des Moines and others wrote home. A soldier praised the Y M C A as a home and best friend in a time of loneliness and longing.
