Ramsey Boy Fined for Vandalizing Buggy on Freight Car

North Manchester youth Ramsey was arrested in Wabash court and fined 17 dollars 50 cents for breaking Rev Merritt s buggy while attempting to hoist it onto a freight car. Merritt turned him over to police and the case closed with the fine.

A Little Fire Sparks At Fitton’s Store

A lighted lamp left on a showroom display ignited mittens and gloves hanging nearby in Fitton’s store Wednesday morning. The blaze caused only a trifling loss and serves as a reminder that eternal vigilance is the price of safety.

Public Sale Planned on J. Salt Farm Near Silver Lake

A public sale will be held on Friday November 13 1903 at J. Salt farm one mile south of Silver Lake. Mr Self will sell 6 horses 15 head of cattle 34 head of sheep hogs Langhan chickens farming implements hay and corn with usual terms and 10 months time. Auctioneer J D Gill clerk C E Stout.

Fred Hill denies a matrimonial adventure was overdrawn in the Record via Claypool correspondent. He asserts no license or preliminaries were authorized and no ceremony date was set at that time. He is described as jovial and generous about potential future alliances.

World’s Fair exhibits announced for 1904 event

The World’s Fair will include a Canadian section with live beavers and goats presented as benefits to humanity. W C McCarty promotes goat exhibits, T E Orr becomes poultry superintendent, and Maccabee gathering occurs September 25 1904 with U S luminaries expected. Ed Weeks pays 151 for a show pig. Indiana authors’ works, Indian newspapers, and a model poultry farm with a chicken restaurant and self service pantry are planned.

Elm log harvested from Sylvanus Fank farm for Wedrick

Willard Drudge hauled an elm log east of town for C. M. Wedrick that measured 1625 feet of lumber with a 42 inch diameter and 18 feet length. The article notes there is still good timber in the country and mentions a recent sale of a fine lot by Mr. Fank.

Coming Back Mrs Jacob Zimmerman and Family Return

Mrs Jacob Zimmerman and two daughters arrived from Wawaka last week. Their household goods are en route and they will become residents of the old town again. Mr Zimmerman will remain in Wawaka for a time to attend to business. We extend them a welcome.

Fulton County Corn Winners Promote Local Displays

Two corn samples from Fulton county were submitted to the office by J. W. Walburn. One sample, grown by John Hanes near Rochester, is of the specified variety. the other, yellow, grown by Jacob Walburn. Both are described as among the finest in the state, with 1000 to 2000 bushels of the same grade available. Lake township urged to submit samples for comparison.
