Gerken Dies at Indiana I O O F Home Interment Here
Telegram announced John H. Gerkin died Monday night at Greensburg Indiana I O O F Home after stomach and bowel illness. He had lived here about twenty five years and moved to the home May 17 1915 for care. Remains arrived Wednesday and were met by I O O F lodge members. Short services at U S church were led by Rev Fryberger with burial in Lakeview Cemetery beside his wife who had died years earlier.

John Henry Gerken was born in New York City on August 7, 1843 and died October 30, 1916 at age 73 years, 2 months and 21 days. He married Margaret Simcox in Plainwell Michigan in 1874. she died March 26, 1910. He was survived by his wife’s grandchildren Bert Eaton and Ruth Simcox Han, who were raised in their home. He leaves an aged widow, Mrs Hoonan Hinman of near ud, who is past 80 and in critical condition.
