Drifter Girl Seeks Indiana Help to Reach Army Red Cross

A girl about twenty named Edith Perry from Michigan appeared in the northern town seeking shelter for the night. She traveled on foot hoping to reach Indianapolis to join the army Red Cross, working at a citizen’s home to earn fare and expenses. She claimed to have taught school in 1915-16 and has parents running a large Michigan farm.

A missionary meeting took place at the Martindale home this Thursday afternoon with good attendance.

Summe Family Tour to Culver Military Academy

John Summe and family along with Mr and Mrs George Summe and Frank Summe with family of Mentone traveled to Culver last Sunday. They spent several hours at the military academy viewing the grounds and watching the drill of infantry and cavalry cadets.

Church Meetings Continue In Cooler Weather

A series of meetings started last Friday by the Church of God has drawn large crowds this week. Rev. Riggle and Rev. Flenner delivered sermons, but cold weather moved services to the room east of the corner drug store instead of the tent.

Infant dies at home near Disko

The month and a half old daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Lotz died suddenly at the family home near Disko. The Wabash county coroner ruled death due to congenital deformity. The infant was buried Monday afternoon in South Pleasant Cemetery.

Last Saturday evening in the Gresso store Mrs. Esta Gresso suddenly suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Bystanders aided her and a physician was called. after about an hour she was moved home and remained weak but gradually improved and nearly regained her speech and movement.

Bomb Attack Targets Bohman Hotel at Creek Lake

An explosion damaged the Bohman hotel on Yellows Creek lake last Friday night. A road bomb shattered windows and shook residents including Mr and Mrs Bohman and their daughter. Investigators await arrests as theories link the act to fish commissioners or hostile parties near the lake. A car fled the scene and pieces of the explosive were found nearby.
