Bright Young Volunteer Enlists For Uncle Sam Near Saint Louis
Harry Shepherd son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Shepherd residing west of town enlisted in the light field artillery service for Uncle Sam last Friday at Fort Wayne after passing examination. He returned home Sunday then went to Fort Wayne with his parents to report at 1 30 p m. This makes the thirty fourth local boy in service and the sixth from the M E Sunday school. The service flag now shows 17 stars and the community flag 23. He was sent from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis and then to St Louis, where he has not yet written home.
