Crowds visited the lake park last Sunday to view improvements by Rager and Pearson who own the grove. They have planted over five hundred trees cleared the grounds of brush and plan to launch a steam launch soon for the season.
Henry D. Pontius and Mrs. Emma L. Brown wed at the bride’s home on Wednesday evening March 20 Rev. D. I. Hower officiating. Pontius is a leading Mentone businessman and the bride is daughter of David Whetston of nearby farms. Both are respected. congratulations extended by Mentone Gazette and The Record.
The board of trustees favors the Nater works system for Silver Lake, supported by many citizens. It aims to safeguard against fire, improve sanitation, and provide convenience for residents.

J. E. Eschbach of Warsaw will run a twelve weeks summer normal program from April 15 to July 3 with practical emphasis. Dr N A Cary of Purdue and Indiana Medical School graduate will lead physiology and school hygiene. Ina Stout will oversee primary and kindergarten work. The gasoline boat bought by Rager and Pearson was moved from Lake Wawasee to a dry dock for repainting and readying to launch on Silver Lake when the season opens. It is a strong twenty passenger craft, expected to draw crowds this year, and may be renamed Myrtle Glen at launch. Park work continues with grounds cleanup and hundreds of new shade trees planted recently.
Postmaster General Cortelyou approves designs for a James town exposition stamp set in 1 cent and 2 cent denominations. The 1 cent features Capt John Smith with his birth and death years 1580 and 1631, and Pocahontas appears in the upper left corner.

He leaves a wife a daughter a grandchild a brother James of near Akron and a sister Mrs Aaron Landis of near Bethel church. Funeral at Vincenza Sunday at 2 pm conducted by Rev M S Hagerty Baptist minister of Anderson.
