Last Saturday at the high school a large audience attended the town sip institute. Pupils read township histories from 1832 to today and sang songs. Teachers plan to compile a single township history with key events, fires, church and school buildings, and town hall.
A large crowd gathered at the Frank Hill sale located two and a half miles northwest of town on Tuesday. Local residents from the area attended in strong numbers.
Is Very Busy In remitting for the Record Frank Ferree of LaPorte sds. We are all well at present and working hard. "I never have been so busy as I have been in the past six months. We would like very much to see our many Silver Lake friends.
F and F Hardware Co. unveiled a new tractor sold to Quinter Hines who lives north of town. The vendor notes this is the first tractor bought near town and predicts many farmers will own one as they become essential on the farm.
Jacob Teeter attended a district meeting of real estate men in South Bend from Monday evening to Wednesday morning. The event covered four northern counties and drew a large, engaged audience.
Albert Bohnstedt and his family have moved to their farm southwest of town after living near South Whitley for a year. The community welcomes the Bohnstedt family back.
C A Pearson has completed a deal with the Rager interests gaining full possession of Myrtle-Glenn Park near this place. Improvements are planned for early spring and humorous attractions are slated for the summer with Will Smith engaged to manage the park this season.
Rose Hill mayor George BR Saure and his wife visited the Kreamer home in the east part of town Tuesday. He celebrated his seventieth birthday Monday and remains active and in good health, seemingly as spry as men half his age.

Mrs Jask Burt accompanied her daughter Lilian to Wabash on Monday. Lilian underwent an operation at nine o clock Tuesday morning and is recovering well with no complications expected.
Reports from Albion state Clel Kemp who moved from Albion to Garrett several months ago has returned to Albion and accepted a similar position in a shop there.

Away This Afternoon Silvanus Funk of two miles east suffered a stroke Tuesday night and entered a critical condition. He died Thursday afternoon shortly after 1 PM. The funeral is set for Sunday at 10 AM at the Church of the Brethren, two miles east, with Rev. T. D. Buttbaugh presiding.
The Mirth of a Nation presents Charlie Chaplin in a new five reel comedy at Bismark theatre on March 21. The world famous comedian promises clean wholesome laughs and broad humor for all audiences.
President Wilson approved entry orders restoring 113 348 acres in Wyoming 188 358 acres in eastern Utah and 10 988 acres in west central Montana. Wyoming and Montana sites were reserved for phosphate which proved absent and Utah lands were within a coal withdrawal.
Will Smith, who wintered at the National Military Home near Dayton, Ohio, arrived last Friday at his father Samuel Smiths home in the town's north part. He plans to oversee Myrtle-Green park this summer and beautify the area.

Ellis Lamb and family who lived on the Jaques property on the town west edge moved to Akron last Friday to establish their future home.
Much improved Arthur Getty, previously suffering rheumatism for weeks, returned from Indianapolis Monday where he had received treatment. He is greatly improved and his friends are glad to see him about town again.
Mr and Mrs Charles Shull announce birth of an eight pound baby boy delivered last Thursday at their home. Mrs Shull is sister to Mrs C K Gresso of this place.
Kosciusko and Wabash county residents with farm or city property mortgages are urged to file mortgage exemptions by April’s end. Exemptions filed after the window are void, depriving taxpayers of tax relief. The KEcoRD office in Silver Lake offers forms and filing service through Brush & Hangon.
William Wiley, a carrier on rural route two, was off duty last Friday and Saturday due to sickness. The absence affected mail delivery in his rural beat.
Ralph Kreamer employed in a Detroit automobile factory visited his parents Mr and Mrs A J Kreamer in the east part of town last Sunday through Tuesday. By special dispensation he received the three initiatory degrees in the Knights of Pythias order.

The Circle road contract was awarded to Brooks Construction of Fort Wayne by the county commissioners on Friday for 821 967, matching the estimate. The three mile project features nine feet of concrete in the center with four feet gravel shoulders on each side, staying within the township debt limit.

Joe Shilling and family visited several days last week at the Andrew Hamman home in the north part of town. Shilling had lived on a farm near Akron, sold his chattels at public sale, and they plan to move to the great northwest to establish their future home. Mrs. Shilling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gill and they will visit relatives until departure.
The junior Christian Endeavor meets each Sunday afternoon at the U B church. Juniors show interest by taking active parts in the service. A larger attendance is desired and members who dropped out for unknown reasons are invited to return. Members are heartily welcome.
