William Dillman of Silver Lake received word that his son Robert Dillman, living in Bruck Indiana, was treated for appendicitis in Indianapolis. An x ray confirmed the need for surgery and the operation was performed on Wednesday morning with hopeful signs of recovery.

Power plant sale eyed as Scranton firm holds option

The United Service Company of Scranton Pennsylvania holds an option on North Manchester area light and power plant with a 30 day extension request. The company already operates at Wabash and extends to Urbana. Analysts see potential for centralized plants supplying Northern Indiana, possibly even Niagara Falls in the distant future. Silver Lake considers not rebuilding its plant and Laketon seeks electric service for residents and farmers.
