Mrs. Laura McGlennen was called to Ikhart yesterday due to the serious illness of fourteen year old Misa Ruby Bashore daughter of Mrs. Bessie McGlennen Bashore. The girl underwent an operation and her condition was regarded as serious.
Dr Amiss spent several hours with Dr Wells in Laketon last Sunday. Wells has been in poor health for some time, and Amiss, a former student, recalled valuable training and ideas from their earlier medical studies.
Mrs W H Kern spent a week with Mrs Alice Bryant in South Bend and enjoyed a most pleasant time. The Bryants have run the grocery business there since moving to South Bend, and when Hollice was called to France his mother was left in charge of the busines s.
Hollice and his mother returned home after a period away then Hollice sold his earlier business and bought a new store with a modern building and prime location. They enjoyed a short vacation visiting Niles and Laporte before resuming plans to grow a larger, better enterprise. The Bryant family has found business success since relocating to South Bend a few years ago.
Julius Magnin will hold a public sale a mile and a half north and a half mile east of town on Saturday July 24. The auction begins at 12 o clock and will include a horse three head cattle farm implements household furniture hay corn oats and various other articles.
Mrs. Alex DeArmon and her daughter from Dayton Ohio visit J. M. Amiss home as they plan to reside in Wyoming. Mrs. DeArmon is Amiss’s niece and the husband moved west last year to establish their future home.
The De Veyra family headed by Jaime C. de Veyra the Resident Commissioner from the Philippine Islands shows Filipino leadership and public spirit in Washington. Mrs de Veyra tours women's clubs delivering lectures on Philippine causes and charity work while their four children adapt to American schools. Mary the baby speaks Spanish English and Filipino.
