Obituary of Charles E. Rantz of Prairie du Chien
Charles E. Rantz born August 17 1844 in Wabash County Indiana died January 31 1912 at Prairie du Chien Wisconsin aged 67 5 14. He married Mary Herendeen October 22 1866 and they had four children Worthy L Laura Gracie Walter A. Gracie and Walter A. predeceased him. He was Civil War veteran with Co VP Otis Indiana Vol Infantry and was active in stock buying and shipping. Survived by wife one son Worthy L Rantz of Orton Wisconsin one daughter Mrs Co Lunsford of Gays Mills Wisconsin a brother Henry Rantz of California two half brothers Daniel Ranty Reed Spring s Missouri Benjamin Ranty New Rockford North Dakota two half sisters Nancy Lukens Laketon and Mary Wertenberger Laketon. Funeral in Warsaw was held with burial postponed to ten weeks for Dr W L Kantz arrival. Numerous relatives from Wisconsin North Dakota and Illinois attended.

Her condition worsened until restraint was needed and she was taken to an Indianapolis sanitarium last Saturday for treatment. Latest report says her condition has somewhat improved.
