Death of former Wabash resident David Melrose is reported. A native of Scotland he moved to Silver Lake around 1876, worked as railroad section foreman for 17 years, then became roadmaster with headquarters at Wabash. The family, including wife two sons Robert and Grant and a married daughter, resides in Wabash.

Government to Distribute 38 Million Seed Packages

The department of agriculture will begin distributing 38 million vegetable and flower seed packages nationwide before planting season. Congress has appropriated 290000 for this effort, with funds also used for foreign experiments. One fifth of the total is reserved for crop reporters and the weather bureau. Distribution targets six climate based sections and localities where propagation is feasible.

Mrs Brush sustained a broken arm after tripping and falling on the stairs at her home last Friday afternoon.
