Over 3,000,000 Red Cross Christmas Seals distributed in Indiana invite citizens to buy one cent seals. Funds support tuberculosis education and relief in the coming year as the disease continues to threaten homes.
A series of revival meetings is in progress at the Lutheran church this week with Rev. A. Z. Eryberger in charge. The gatherings are well attended and the sermons are excellent.
About forty attendees from Akron watched Lena Rivers at the Akron Opera House on Tuesday evening. The audience praised the performance and congratulated Mr. Gast on the show’s success ahead of the Cornell-Price Company's spring engagement for three nights.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Tullis arrive in Silver Lake this week and will occupy the Charles Carter property on Sycamore street. Mr. Tullis has bought the dray line and plans to operate it locally.
Eastbound Braude visits New York Sun day and the East this week to inspect commission houses. He oversees sale of poultry both live and dressed and eggs shipped by Braude & Dritzler.
Miss Trilby Summe Phyllis Underhill Meta Paulus Thelma Paulus Lena Hamman and Etha Hamman visited Miss Marie Carr at her home north of town last Thursday. Vera Gresso could not attend due to a severe sore throat.
A Silver Lake man, Richard son, posed in a Wabash saloon with carbolic acid to end his life after a failed love affair. Police retrieved an identical bottle with castor oil, and he left the city after declaring he would wait to drink it outside. The motive traced to pawning a large diamond ring for his sweetheart who then refused him.
An enjoyable Thanksgiving day was spent at the Hugh Bowen home in the north part of town. Guests included G. W. Leighty and family, Harvey Leighty and wife of Warsaw, Edward Leighty of Warsaw, Miss Etta Berlin of Pierceton, C. Valentine and family of Claypool, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bal of this place.
J. Cavender of Hobart promoted and opened the American Trust & Savings Bank on Oct 29 1912 with a paid up capital of 50 000. Cavender who had served as cashier and promoter for the Commercial Bank at Silver Lake, and later held stock in the State Bank.

The thirty fourth annual meeting of the Farmers Metal Relief Association of Kosciusko County will be held at the Court Room in Warsaw Indiana on Saturday December th 191 beginning at ten o clock in the morning. Mrs. Zora Reed of Marion spent several days last week visiting the T. C. McClure and Fred Summe families and other relatives and friends in the locality. She was formerly Miss Zora Rhine and was born here. She was accompanied by Master Eugene Haiderman.
Mrs. Zile and her son Earl returned from Canada last week after going there in April for the busy season. They preferred to be in the United States during the winter. Mrs. Ziles' daughter Mrs. Lynch and her family lived near Drinkwater Saskatchewan and were there part of the time while in the Dominion.
E W Gresso of the Gresso Department store traveled to Chicago Tuesday for a Retail Merchants Association meeting. He plans to stay in the Windy City for several days.
Center item lists show Mrs Cass Hill not improving while many families from Silver Lake Claypool Warsaw and Liberty Mills visit relatives over Thanksgiving and Sunday gatherings. Names include Beatrice Moyer Ina Boganwrite Alfaretta Price and the Carr row along with Hill Rowland and Whittenberger families.
Mr and Mrs John Laughman marked fifty years of marriage with a Thursday gathering at their home south of the Big Four station. About 25 relatives and friends attended a midday dinner and songs after a prayer led by Rev McCoy. Attendees included James Sunday and family, Harvey Halderman, Elizabeth Nelson and daughter, Nellie Darringer, Isaac Halderman, Elmer Laughlin and family, the Misses Sylvia and Jennie Nelson, L D Underhill, and Ben Gertsch.

Grandpa Rose returns from relatives near Nappanee. George W Leckrone to return from Cleveland hospital after goitre surgery. Brethren church meetings east of Silver Lake end. Rev Metzler returns to Nappanee. Mrs Anna Calp leaves for Iowa after visiting Hay family. Samuel Caufman and wife relocate to old home, preferring it to staying with children.
Miss Pauline Miller of near Columbia City visited here last week with many friends. She previously resided with her parents Mr and Mrs Alex Miller on a farm southeast of town. The Miller family now live on an excellent farm three miles from Columbia City and are doing well.
Francis Rager began a New York journey last Saturday morning escorting two car loads of poultry for the Braude & Ditzler produce company.

Mrs. P. W. Whitmyer and daughters Irene and Fay and sons Buren and Hubert of Elkhart visited last week at the Isaac Spangle O. F. Brown and Earl Spangle homes. Miss Whitmyer is Isaac Spangle's daughter and sister to Earl Spangle and Mrs. O. B. Brown.
Miss Valera Self teaching in Whiting spent Thanksgiving with her parents Mr. and Mrs. S J Self.
Thad McClure with his wife and daughter traveled to Chicago last Sunday and are visiting the Windy City this week to attend the Live Stock Show.

North Vernon druggist E. T. Andrew who will take over the Cline drug store visited yesterday and went to War saw in the evening. He will move here as soon as possible due to the illness of his wife.
