Nelson Jontz Rittenhouse Annual Family Reunion

The Nelson Jontz Rittenhouse annual family reunion was held at Myrtle Gieno park on Wednesday Aug 25 with over fifty attendees. A dinner, social time, a Greenville Ohio recital by Miss Branson and a paper by Jesse Nelson were reported along with talks. Officers elected were J P Homman president Mrs Arthur Hively secretary and Mrs J A Jontz treasurer. Next reunion is set for Wednesday Aug 16 1916.

New Hog Disease Called Bullnose in Illinois

A new ailment named Bullnose has appeared in Illinois hogs. The disease is said to spread by rooting and mirrors cholera with symptoms including eye whitening and a swollen sore nose.

Attempted death by own action thwarted by bottle knocked away

A young farmer, J red Gilliam, resident near Chapmac Lake, attempted self harm with chlorof orm and chloroform but was frustrated when a bottle was knocked from his hands late Sunday night. Domestic troubles are suspected as the motive.

Teachers Institute Opens in Warsaw Court Room

Kosciusko county teachers institute opened Monday morning in the circuit court room in Warsaw. The attendance was large with the room nearly filled. The institute has been in session this week and will close tomorrow evening. A number of excellent speakers were on the program and many good talks given.

Mrs. Hannah Holly aged 76 died at her son William Holly’s home southwest of town last Saturday. Funeral held at South Pleasant church Monday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. A Z Fryberger. She had lived with William for years. husband died less than seven months ago. Survived by sons William and Charles of Knnman Indiana and daughter Mrs William Myers of Wheatfield. J. C. Hay and Francis Rager returned from a two weeks' trip to upper Michigan. They traveled with Tfrank Zimmerman of North Manchester in his car. The trio enjoyed the journey, though they were in summer clothes and felt several chilly days. They have many interesting stories to tell about the trip.

Suit Filed for 2000 Damages After Horse Team Incident

Thomas J. Dick of Claypool sues Edward Reese for 2000 in damages alleging injuries from being struck by a team left unhitched by Reese’s premises. Dick says the horses caused two months of medical attention and cites a town ordinance fining leaving horses unhitched.

A rural pickle salting station enjoyed a record day with 6304 bushels collected on Monday. Bennie Drudge led operations with Miss Ethel Skinner as book keeper and two helpers weighing and packing the harvest. Cash distributed to workers ranged between $300 and $100 for the day.

Prosecuting attorney Homer Longfellow of Warsaw filed the affidavit of Frank Summe a Mentone real estate dealer against Heney Miracle of Tippecanoe for selling liquor to Summe's minor son. Bootleggers from nearby towns continued activity last Saturday drawing attention in Mentone according to the Warsaw Times.
