Miss Selah Leonard hosts a lively tacky party with costume contests and a poetic showdown. Prizes go to James Arthur and Estella Alspaugh for costumes and to Edson Wiley and Blanche Ferree for the poetry contest. Refreshments and games follow until midnight.
The Indiana State Board of Agriculture plans a September fair in Indianapolis devoted to agriculture horticulture and live stock. After catering to city crowds the board will emphasize farm exhibitions with large machinery displays from buggy threshing and corn shredder makers expanding space and seeking room for more exhibitors.
South bound Big Four passenger train and north bound freight No. 62 collided in North Anderson yards last Sunday morning. Fronts of both engines smashed. Freight engineer Jackson blamed. Six injured: W. B. Marks North Webster spine and back. John Ryan Warsaw severe cut over right eye. C. A. Michsels Marion nose crushed and body bruised. H. W. Kelsey Wabash right shoulder. Bert B. Kubler Wabash right knee sprained. A. P. Freymire Chenault fireman left leg cut and bruised.

The Ninth Annual Ressin of Winona National Bible Conference opens Sunday August 16 with Rev. Dr. J. Wilbur Chapman preaching. Speakers include D Gordon Cleveland Rev. James M. Gray Boston W G Moore Xenia L W Munhall Philadelphia Cornelius Woelfkin Brooklyn John Robertson Glasgow and others. The day August 19 will feature R A Turvey and Charles M Alexander sharing world tour stories with A P Fitt presiding. Missionary Conference led by William Phillips Hall follows with John Willis Barr directing youth sessions. Music by H G Smyth and assistants. Vendelia Welsh Male Glee Club to perform. Closing sessions focus on the Holy Spirit with large attendance anticipated.

Citizens push to reorganize the town band to match Akron Mentone and Claypool. Aiming to raise funds for instruments the effort promises weekly open air concerts drawing crowds from surrounding areas and boosting local business signs for direction.
A follow up to last week’s ducking incident occurred Tuesday night at the Pearson residence. A group of youths drenched an open window beside the couple’s bed, soaking Mrs Pearson the hardest, while Charley Pearson is blamed for sparking the prank. The household is expected to return to normal soon.

Benton Harbor readers complain that the Big Four travel program to three destinations is overburdened. A Sunday Goshen bound train left Benton Harbor with passengers who must stay overnight in Goshen and return Monday, paying separate fare, while others boarded at Anderson and Wabash.

The Trustee of Lake Township Kos ciusko County proposes for 1903 annual expenditures and tax levies as advised by the Advisory Board. Township expenditures 9800. Local tuition 1700 for 25 cents tax and 23 cents per poll. Special school tax 2000 with 35 cents tax and 30 cents per poll. Road expenditures 1300 with 5 cents tax and additional road 2500 with 10 cents per hundred. Poor expenditures 150 with 3 cents tax. Total expenditures 26450 and total tax 108 cents per hundred.
