The county will call twenty seven enrolled men for examination on Monday and another twenty seven on Tuesday. If the quota is not filled a further call will follow. No one from this township appears in the list of fifty four.
Has been quite sick Isaac Spangle has been in a very critical condition at his home west of town the past several days.

The 13th annual camp meeting of the Church of God will begin Friday August 10 at Saints grounds near Yellow Creek Lake northwest of this place and continue for ten days. Attendees come from many sections of the United States.
Former resident Mrs Samuel Chronister dies Wednesday morning after a long illness from paralysis twenty years ago. She passed at her home two miles west of Bippus at an advanced age. Funeral held Friday at Fairview Church with burial nearby. the Cronister family once lived in the area and she was well known among longtime residents.
Members of the embroidery club gathered Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. W. Ferverda for an informal session.

A group from the locality spent Sunday at Yellow Creek Lake Manitou Lakens Lake and Culver. They enjoyed a relaxing excursion and reported a pleasant time.
Clarence Brill cut his right foot on glass while fishing at Yellow Lake last Sunday evening. The wound was dressed, a physician treated it Monday, and he remains off duty but hopes to resume normal activity soon.
Will Grant arrives from Renssel aer Sunday evening to stay with his mother Mrs. S. A. Canada in the south part of town and will depart for Indianapolis soon to begin training as one of Uncle Sam's boys heading to the war effort.

The 35 year old woman has suffered a derangement and talked about the great war in Europe. For six weeks she has been a charge to her family and has troubled several households, leading to removal for medical treatment.
Miss Kathleen Burdge, while resting in grass in a truck patch west of town, was suddenly eyed by a large black snake whose head loomed before her face. She screamed and jumped, frightening the reptile away as her father rushed to help. the snake could not be found.

William T. Warren died at his home two miles southeast of Silver Lake on Monday July 16 1917 aged 70 years 9 months 5 days. He leaves wife Elizabeth and children Charles W Warren Bir mingham Clarence H of Orofino Blain E Silver Lake Willie J Fort Wayne Cora l Riley Marion Daley Fuller Buchan an Michigan Stella Jones Burket and Turel Everly Akron fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Born in Cumberland county Pennsylvania 1846 he moved to the state in 1886 and was a United Brethren church member in Warsaw. Funeral services were held by Rev O L Richhart at Palestine with burial nearby.
