The Third Liberty Loan Solicitors call Silver Lake residents to a Friday evening gathering at the Lutheran Church. Patriots will sing, discuss public safety, and end with a Liberty Loan Ride by auto horn to raise support for the war effort.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Stauffer were in town briefly Tuesday. They had spent a couple of months in California on a pleasure trip and were en route to their Akron home.

Mr and Mrs Charles Hanes living northwest of town are the proud parents of a baby boy born Tuesday morning. All parties are doing well and with proper care it is hoped Daddy Hanes will recover from his stroke.
The change of clocks Sunday will bring confusion and discussion but is a law to be obeyed. Supporters cite urban savings in gas and electric light bills, noting Great Britain saves 812 million annually and the United States city estimate reaches 1.5 million dollars in gas alone.
Mrs Ruth Kohl arrived from Indianapolis last Friday and stayed through Sunday with Mr and Mrs Brank Getty in Ohio. She returned home Monday taking a bus back to Indianapolis.
Frank Summe from Mentone visited town after learning his son Howard enlisted March 18 at Fort Wayne and was sent to a camp near St. Louis. The Summe family now has three sons in U S service, all former Silver Lake boys, with two addresses listed in another column.
Charles Pearson attended his niece's little daughter’s funeral in Edwardsburg Michigan last Sunday and stopped in Elkhart Indiana on the return Monday for a few hours.
Frank Summe traveled from Mentone with his daughter Leana Summe and Mr. and Mrs. John Summe to Fort Wayne where Leana was enrolled in a school.

Jacob Adams and his family moved about six miles south west of town to the country earlier this week. They had lived in town for several years.
Washington dispatch reports the marshal general will hold the second draft registration on June 5, marking the first anniversary of the initial register and aiming to add about 500000 physically fit men to the nation’s defense during the ongoing war.
Mrs Lizzie Whittenbarger and her boys moved to a place northwest of town on Tuesday and plan to make it their future home.

Local clergy prepare for the M. E. B. Conference in Warsaw with about 200 to 300 ministers and a similar number of lay delegates expected to attend over one or more days. The event opened yesterday and runs through Monday.
Navy seaman Wilbur Amiss, stationed at Portsmouth Virginia, arrived home yesterday at noon on a short furlough to visit his parents Mr and Mrs Charles Amiss near town.
Wright Butterbaugh son of Mr and Mrs T D Butterbaugh living southeast of town broke his collar bone playing ball at North Manchester College last Thursday afternoon.
Glen Tullis and his Akron family visited over Sunday with Mr and Mrs Regenos. On Monday they all went to Akron where Mr Regenos has purchased a property and plans to occupy it soon.
T. C. Johnson and wife relocate their shoe and harness repair business to North Manchester. He has operated the shop here for several years and will establish the future home and business location in North Manchester.
The Jacob, Chester and Gus House and the Sid Aker families were Sunday guests at the Barl Zile home north east of town.
In Monrovia California on March 25 a large funeral for A L Myers formerly of Silver Lake was held. The service was conducted by Rev Humphries with prayers by Rev Lord and a sermon by Rev F M Semper. Rev Kemper gave a tender tribute recalling Myers youth conversion industry family devotion and faith.
Brush and Hanson, authorized subscription agents at the Record Office Silver Lake, offer to handle subscriptions to any magazine and provide money saving club catalogs to save buyers time and trouble.
Officers announce sugar and flour distribution restrictions to support war efforts. No sales beyond approved cards. limits set at one pound flour per week and three pounds sugar per month per person. Cards require county administrator signature and are issued to the head of each family only.
Mazda class of the M. E. Sunday school were entertained at the Arthur Hivély home north of town Wednesday evening. A pleasant time was enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be at the Ross Gamble home south of town on Wednesday evening April 17.
Virgil Clinker son of Mr and Mrs Henry Clinker leaves hometown to join a concrete construction gang in Wisconsin where he will be employed beginning next week.
Ralph Hoffman at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station sent a communication with his new address. The RECORD had been sent to Huffy since training but failed to reach him. the new address will be listed in the column titled With the U.S. Colors.
On furlough Will Wedrick of Camp Logan near Zion City Illinois visits his group Saturday and Sunday. He says he is well fed and getting along fine. Soldiers from Camp Decatur were moved to Camp Logan to improve facilities with sewers water systems and modern conveniences. His company has worked five days a week with pick and shovel laying a sewer, with hard labor to end soon.
Chas Rager of San Antonio writes that while the weather is fine, rainfall is scant and crops suffer from drought. He notes Texas' large war training camps will stay busy for years as soldiers fill streets and reports a move from rural to city life at 829 Denver Blvd, San Antonio.
Miss Pearl McKrill hosted a kitchen shower in the central office Tuesday evening for her cousin Miss Gladys Sprigg who is said to be soon to be married. Fourteen guests attended and enjoyed the evening. Sprigg received several useful articles.
Everett Whittenberger, studying in Indianapolis, spent Sunday at home with his parents Mr and Mrs Albert Whittenberger northwest of Lown.
Hugh Snyder returned from Chicago Sunday morning and stayed with his group until Wednesday morning.
Harley Regenos from northwest of here drove to Indianapolis last Friday and returned Saturday with his son who had been at school there. Irvin Clink, employed in Chicago Heights, visited home over Sunday with his parents north of town.
Paul Snyder, who has been employed in Mishawaka since last fall, was home over Sunday to visit his parents.
Mrs. Jacob Haney received a letter from her grandson Orval Nagle in the navy. He describes arriving in Panama, the green climate, and many fine buildings. He mentions an M C A with recreation facilities, a canal visit postponed, and plans to stay three to four months with many soldiers and sailors around.
Rev and Mrs BE E Wright of Poneto spent a few hours in town Tuesday and had supper with the F M Jaques family. They continued on to Warsaw to attend a conference.
The board of trustees of Silver Lake will meet in regular session Friday evening. Officials anticipate important business matters to be taken up.
Ex resident reports severe winter in Buchanan Michigan with seven weeks of zero weather. Snow totaled forty nine inches by March including ten inches in December and thirty nine more in January. Coal shortages limited fuel, work scarce, and housing fully occupied.
