The 1912 Sunday sunshine brought large crowds outdoors after a long freeze. Residents praised the mild weather and optimism grew for a busy spring as people resumed walks and plans delayed by the severe Indiana winter.
The Peoples Mutual Telephone Company will start extensive repairs in Mentone. They will place about fifteen hundred feet of main lines near the central office underground to replace overhead lines and reduce future repairs in that section.
F. M. Downing in Claypool advertises kitchen cabinets starting at 18.00 with many pieces priced at 22.00. Includes promotional savings aimed at local shoppers.
Clara Lucile Rider ten months old child of Mr and Mrs George Rider west of this place died at 7 30 Tuesday evening in a brief local notice noting the family and timing of death.
Bernard Votter from Indiana polis returns home last Friday for a brief visit with his relatives. The School of Pharmacy is closed for the Spring vacation.
The League at the U B church meets next Sunday evening to discuss “The Kind of Life We Wish We Had Lived” from Luke 16 1931. Walter Homman will lead the session.
W. H. Bruce, son in law of Mr and Mrs A J Scott, died at his Huntington home at 7 30 Monday evening after about two weeks illness from cold lagrip which developed into aratinitis and blood poisoning. Funeral at 2 pm Thursday at the Christian church in Huntington with attendance by A J Scott and Mrs Scott, Mr and Mrs Ed Gaskill, of Warsaw, and E M Scott of Chicago.

It cites Massachusetts requiring abolition within 15 years with cost shares 61 percent by road, 26 percent by state, 13 percent by locality. New York shows thousands of crossings reduced with a 50 25 25 split among railroad city and state.

Mary Elizabeth Vangilder born Mary Smith in Ohio on May 15 1844 died March 29 1912 aged 67 10 14 She married William Aker in 1869 had two sons Sidney E and John Wesley with Wesley dying in infancy She later married Isaac Vangilder who died in 1875 She moved from a farm NW of town to Silver Lake before living with relatives She leaves Sidney E Aker New Haven brother Samuel Smith six grandchildren and many friends Funeral held March 31 1912 at Center U B church with Rev McCoy officiating Interment in church cemetery.
