Fall Schedule Set For Western Musicians

Western New Mexico University music department announces a busy fall schedule. Recitals feature Jerry Parotti and Lewis Spencer November 18, and Paul Muench with Mrs Parotti December 10. The Choral Ensemble performs November 11 at the Silver City Medical Convention Banquet. The Choir and Orchestra present a Christmas Program December 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Roger Brandt showcases a Bandwagon act at events, with the stage band making three appearances.

Famous Hypnotist Ormond McGill to Perform in Silver City

Ormond McGill known as The Amazing Ormond brings the Concert of Hypnotism to the Fine Arts Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 30. The show features authentic demonstrations with volunteers on stage and a finale titled Hypnotism Diss cothaque. Kiwanis sponsors ticket sales for the scholarship fund.

NEA NM Convention Sets Keynote Lineup in Albuquerque

James Cass of the Saturday Review delivers the first general session keynote on October 25 at the NEA NM convention in Albuquerque. Crash Flight at Sacramento Air Show Kills 22

A Korean War era F86 Sabre jet crashed during takeoff at Sacramento Executive Airport after an air show on Sept 24. 22 people died and 26 were injured when the plane plunged into a crowd. Witness Craig Canady testified that the pilot attempted lift off too quickly and at too steep an angle. He noted no mechanical failure and said the engine sounded normal. National Transportation Safety Board investigators found no evidence of mechanical failure.

Rescue attempt in New Mexico mountain cliff fall

An Air Force helicopter aided by State Police and Eddy County sheriffs deputies tried to reach an injured climber in a ravine in the Guadalupe Mountains near Sitting Bull Falls. The climber, who fell around dusk, was conscious but badly hurt and to be flown to Epstien New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

Marine Band Vocalist Michael Ryan A Capitol Native

Washington D C born Michael Ryan rose from elementary school to St John’s High School and the University of Maryland Opera Theater. A baritone soloist of the United States Marine Band since 1970 he gained national prominence with an Ivy League tour and White House appearances. He earned a BA in Romance Languages in 1984 and is praised for depth and power in his voice.
