In Hue a 17 year old girl burned herself to death amid anti Ky protests as Buddhist leaders urged a stop to self sacrifice and self immolation. The edict blamed no one and stated the act was individual. Monks and nuns reported several other suicides connected to the Buddhist rebellion. The violence comes as U S air strikes against North Vietnam resumed with heavy raids on targets from Hanoi to the central highlands.

Trial Date Set For Charles Ray
The State of New Mexico will hear Charles Ray on June 28 in the Grant County Courthouse before District Judge George L. Zimmerman. Ray is charged with assault with intent to commit a violent felony and aggravated battery in the shooting of Frank McCauley on August 9, 1965, both Grant County ranchers. Home Loan Rates Jump in April as Market Tightens

In Battle Mountain Nevada Deputy Sheriff Fred Nelsen died in a traffic crash though the body is identified as Michael Leroy Williams by fingerprints. The 32 year old man had been working as a cook in the area for months. no clues were found in his motel room. The sheriff says they had no references and a Social Security card bore an alternate name. The case remains unsolved with no photos available.

Foster, 21, from Modesto California, died when the car he rode in overturned five miles west of Grady on NM 18. Three other airmen were injured. Three Forest Service men injured in helicopter crash
A U S Forest Service leased helicopter on a fire fight mission crashed Sunday afternoon between Luna and Escadilla Mountain near the Arizona border. Richard Allred of Reserve and two other Forest Service employees were hospitalized in Springerville with back injuries. Weekend Fires Reported In Gila Forest Termal Blazes
Ten weekend fires in the Gila National Forest were extinguished over Memorial Day by U S Forest Service personnel. Two fires were reported Saturday and eight on Monday as slurry aircraft and ground crews battled blazes scattered in the Gila. One fire six miles northwest of Reserve was found Tuesday at 7 29 a m near a road. by 10 30 a m no other fires were reported. Through the year there have been 45 fires in the Gila National Forest.
