City Police Monthly Report Highlights April Actions

The Silver City Police report shows 66 arrests in April, 185 traffic citations, 47 crimes, 19 thefts, and 9 vandalism cases. Patrols increased with three new officers and one extra car, driving 16,359 miles in April. Parking tickets totaled 298 with 139 paid, and total year totals rose notably from last year.

Downed Airmen Show Ranges Of Reactions To Rescue Stress

Dr. Richard F. Zeller reported at the American Medical Association convention that about 200 downed airmen in Southeast Asia exhibited varied stress responses. Most acted logically to aid rescuers, while 66 showed depression and panic. insect bites caused discomfort, and a few escaped enemy forces. Some used ejection seats, walked on wings, or dangled from trees during rescue. One airman experienced repeated shoot downs. New York AP noting ferrous metal prices followed.

Ronald Lapia 30 driving in downtown Baltimore watched a man coerce him and his English sheepdog from the car at a stoplight and flee with the vehicle. Lapia noted the dog is a good watchdog at home but not fierce. Police investigated the attempted car theft with the dog present and uninjured driver.
