The U S Office of Economic Opportunity awards total over 27000 dollars for two summer Neighborhood Youth Corps efforts in New Mexico. Forest Fire Extinguished Near Willow Creek
A small fire reported Tuesday afternoon in the Gila Wilderness near Turkey Feather Pass eight miles south of Willow Creek burned about one acre. Eight men monitored it this morning as the season tally reached 11 fires in the Gila National Forest, per fire dispatcher Cal Salars.

Reserve Resident Dies at Aragon Funeral Service
Emilio L. Trujillo life-long Catron County resident died in Socorro on April 23 after months of illness. Funeral held April 25 at Aragon Catholic Church with Fr. Brockett officiating, burial in Aragon Cemetery. Survivors include six sisters and four brothers, plus many nieces and nephews. One sister, Flora Aguilar, had visited and left Hawthorn, California on April 28.
