Washington AP reports that each Grumman FH fighter under a compromise on the Navy contract will cost about 60 percent more per plane than the original. The Pentagon said for 134 planes the price would be 25.8 million each, with the total program costing 2.46 billion, versus 5.273 billion for a 313-plane buy. Warner said 134 planes would be produced per existing terms, and any further purchases would be under a new contract.
