Andres A Martinez 55 of Silver City died this morning at Hillcrist General Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending with Curtis Mortuary. He retired from Kerth the Chino Mines Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation. Survivors include his widow Anselma, two sons Ruben and Andres Eugene, one daughter Imelda, three stepsons Johnny Jimmy Alvino Lopez, his step father Pete Jimenez, one brother Manuel and a sister Adela.

Man Walks 10 Miles To Save Family On N M 25
Four people including two children were stranded on a snowy stretch of New Mexico 25 between Pinos Altos and Lake Roberts. Grant County Sheriff Steve Aguirre said about 18 inches of snow blocked the road. A rescuing party from the sheriff’s office, county road department, and volunteers freed the stranded family after two Jeeps with a winch assisted in pulling the pickup free twice. Terry Yager walked roughly 10 miles to get help, returning with Deputy George Shaffer to summon aid. No one was injured.

Two youths survive night on Sandia Mountains hike
