Commissioners OK New Fire District in Grant County

The Scant County Commissioners tentatively approve a new 22 square mile fire district for Fort Bayard State Hospital area, with hars Western boundary at the Silver and Cobre school district line. Fort Bayard official Stewart Warrick says state fire marshal training will be used and district aid will assist Bayard and Central departments when needed.

H and R Sell Ambulance Service to H K Division

Terry Fletcher, Silver City agent for Mayflower Moving and Storage, announced the purchase of EH R Ambulance Service from James H. Greenwood. The service becomes H K Ambulance Service, a division of H K Mayflower Moving and Storage, effective 10 a.m. Saturday January 9. Fletcher will lead 24 hour coverage for Grant County and surrounding areas from 203 E San Vicente in Silver City. The transfer includes two equipped ambulances with oxygen and airjet spints, serving Silver City, Grant County, and nearby areas in the state. Greenwood operated the service for about two years after acquiring it from Sidney H. Curtis and aims to maintain its reputation.

Hurley Christmas Lighting Contest Announced by Mayor Trapp

Mayor Harold Trapp announces Hurley’s annual Christmas Decorating Contest to be judged on December 21 at 7 p.m. Lights should stay on until 10 p.m. Prizes totaling 100 will be awarded with winners notified December 22. Local Service Station Hit By Burglars

Police discovered a break in early today at Herbs Chevron Service on Higty 180 Eas. Sgt Byron Brown of the ver City Police Department reported burglars opened a cigarette machine and took cash from the machine. The teller said the machine was not damaged.
