Cobre Schools Open Year With Half Day Start
The 1972 73 Cobre Consolidated School District opened Monday with a half day, assemblies, and shortened classes while teachers attended an orientation led by Superintendent Dr David L Walker who urged ongoing learning and student focus. New staff introduced across Bayard Central Snell and Cobre High welcomed by Dr Walker and Superintendent Dwight Walker.

Good Sams Camp Out At Lake Roberts
The Border Chapter of Good Sam International gathered 26 members eight children and four guests for a three day weekend at Lake Roberts. Attendees from Tor C Mesitla Park Dem ing Bayard Hurley and Silver City joined in on a rain disrupted bonfire, pot luck meals and a Sunday church service. The next meeting is planned for September 15 17 at Dam Site Park Lake Caballo with Don and Helen Smith of Bayard as Wagonmasters.

Former Hurley Resident Dies In Colorado
Leroy D. Murray 70 of Englewood Colorado died after a heart attack. Funeral arrangements are with Curtin-Bright Mortuary. Murray lived in Hurley in the 1920s and ran the Santa Rita and Hurley Theatres before moving to Denver in 1932. Survived by his widow a stepson four stepdaughters and five grandchildren.
