Seniors Eligible for Four Scholarships at SHS
The Mack Williams, Classroom Teachers, Silsbee Women's Study Club, and Industrial Arts Scholarships are open to SHS seniors. Applicants need a last three year average of at least 80, two SHS years, and leadership, character, and service. Interviews precede final awards, with awards announced on Award Day.

Registration Opens for NEDT Test at Silsbee High
More than 75 sophomores will take the three hour National Educational Development Test between March 9 and 14. The NEDT battery covers English social studies math science and word usage to measure applied learning skills rather than memorized facts. It has been used at Silsbee High since 1959 to help students and teachers identify strengths and weaknesses and guide educational goals.

The Tigerettes led spirited parades, fireworks lit the sky, and the Tigers defeated the Victor Pirates 12-6 amid a full schedule of bands, floats, and ex-student activities.

Editor Judy Dubose says sale begins Monday November 4 with a gold front-cover inscription for buyers who pay down 2500 or buy at full price five dollars. Annuals sold during lunch outside room 110. Foreign Language Dept. Expands Two Year Courses
The Foreign Language Department adds two year sequences in Latin French and Spanish. Evelyn Allen teaches Latin and French. Jewel Jones teaches Spanish. Enrollment includes about 120 Latin students and 50 in Spanish. Courses emphasize reading and conversation with new texts Primera Vista y Segunda Vista for Spanish and Akman and Henry for Latin. The department runs clubs French Latin Polygliets and Spanish Club Los Vivarados to promote language study.

On Wednesday October 23 the Ag. Ill class visited Kirbyville to attend the weekly livestock auction. James Peavy offered six capons but none sold due to little interest while students observed breeds from brown goats to varied horse stock.
