Percy Armory and the Lost Ring Landmark Case
A 19th century London finder story explains the classic common law around lost property. Percy Armory found a diamond ring, the goldsmith’s apprentice stole it, and the court ruled the finder may hold against all but the true owner. It distinguishes lost from mislaid property and notes the finder’s duty to return mislaid items to the proprietor. Prepared by the State Bar of Texas for information.
