Bottles threaten Texas highways during football season
The Texas Highway Department warns of a threefold danger from broken bottles on roadsides and in rest areas. Bottles slash tires, can cause blowouts, injure motorists, and start grass fires by focusing sunrays. Maintenance crews must pick them up by hand, posing injury risks. Motorists are urged to use disposal facilities at over 1,000 roadside parks and avoid discarding bottles along highways.
