Death in Sour Lake crash claims 71 year old McCawley
William Palmer McCawley 71 of Houston died at 9 20 am Tuesday when the auto he rode in collided with an oil field truck at Highway 105 and Farm Road 326 in Sour Lake. His wife Mrs Lillie McCawley and two Steadhams were seriously injured and taken to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. The truck was owned by E A Johnson and Son of Dassetta and driven by William Alton Knight 42 of Hull. McCawley, a retired railroad employee, belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen and the International Order of Odd Fellows. Surviving daughters and sons include Mrs W P Cowan and Mrs J Redlag, two sons J A McCawley and A E Dick McCawley, plus siblings and in laws. The body is at Broussard Funeral Home Beaumont with arrangements to be announced.
