Consumer alert warns on fake independent telephone directories
The Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division cautions business owners about deceptive independent telephone directories selling white pages and yellow page ads. Promoters promise low costs, delay publication, and vanish after ads are paid, leaving merchants without refunds or records. Verify reputability, check local offices, view published issues, and never pay upfront. For help, contact the division or call 1-800-252-9236.
