Judge Coe Rules For Herron In Trailer Park Case
After nine hours of testimony on March 12 88th District Judge H A Coe ordered a temporary injunction requiring the City of Silsbee to issue a building permit and a trailer park license for the Herrons at the corner of Knapple and Watts Road The city had revoked the permit Feb 15 arguing misrepresentation and that a trailer park license was needed before a permit The ruling was prepared for signature as Ratliff said he would appeal to the Court of Civil Appeals in Beaumont Meanwhile city officials argued the zoning ordinance process justified maintaining the status quo until the ordinance vote outcome is known The judge overruled Ratliff s abatement motion delaying the injunction decision until zoning matters are resolved The hearing included testimony from city officials and the Herrons and the mayor s office explained the council vote machinery was in motion for a zoning ordinance clarification The BeE attempted to contact the mayor for comment on the ruling and stated the city contested the suit to preserve the status quo during ordinance proceedings The appeal was noted as normal procedure at hearings end
