W. H. Rose 56 a local building contractor died at work Tuesday morning. Services were held at 10 a.m. at Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. T. C. Vaughn officiating. Grand Jury Indicts 5 in Hardin County
Five indictments were returned to 88th District Court in Kountze by the Hardin County grand jury. The counts include two theft charges, one child desertion, one attempt to commit rape, and one forgery. A related embezzlement case involving Frank Aldridge was not docketed, and the grand jury will reconvene August 18 unless a special session is called. Frank Doyle Farmer pled guilty to a second offense DWI and was fined $250 plus costs after a plea agreement with the district attorney.

Silsbee reports its first polio case of the year a six year old girl Ladelia Moshay admitted to Martin DePorres hospital Beaumont with anterior polio. Cunningham Seeks New Trial In Murder Case
Convicted killer T. C. Cunningham appeared in district court in Hardin County requesting a new trial and appeals review. Judge H. A. Coe noted the motion was late but allowed consideration while Cunningham pressed for a review by the Court of Criminal Appeals. He then went before the Hardin County grand jury with new evidence and maintained his innocence. Cunningham was returned to Huntsville after the session, guarded in prison whites and shackles.
