Texans Urged To Practice Farm Safety Week
The week of July 24 30 is set as Texas and National Farm Safety Week to reduce farm accidents. The Texas Farm and Ranch Safety committee argues fatigue and overwork lead to unsafe use of power equipment and edged tools, urging households to inspect and fix hazards in homes and barns. Falls in particular cause many injuries and prompt a call to practice caution and implement safeguards.

Game and Fish Commission Eyes Dove Season Openers and Antelope Hunts
The Game and Fish Commission in Austin proposed a similar waterfowl season as last year with a later south zone mourning dove opener and a closed whitewing dove season. It authorized antelope seasons in Panhandle and West of Pecos with up to 200 does West of Pecos plus 400 bucks, and set a statewide big game season from November 16 to December 31. A duck and goose season would run November 4 to January 3 with limits five ducks daily or ten in possession and five geese daily or five in possession. Mourning dove seasons would be north September 1 to October 10 and south October 15 to November 23, with a ten-dove daily limit. West of Pecos antelope would allow up to 500 bucks and 300 does in four periods October 1–10, while Panhandle would harvest up to 350 bucks in three 3-day shoots October 12–20. Public drawings in Austin will decide permit applications, and officials will study reopening Yarborough Pass and Laguna Madre connections with Gulf waters for coastal projects.
