Pipeline value hearings set for August 13 by board of equalization
Hardin county commissioners met at the courthouse in Kountze with the board of equalization. Affected taxpayers faced an 11 percent tax roll increase pushing valuation from about 45 million to 55 million to cover budget needs and bond payments including the courthouse. Six pipeline companies protested assessed values and hearings are slated to begin August 18 with values around 18 000 to 21 000 per mile for lines over 28 inches.
