Rebels Free Damon Elmore On Cuba Release This Week
Damon Elmore of Guantanamo Cuba brother of Herbert Elmore of Silsbee was released this week by Cuban insurgents who held him since early last week. The wire service and late news broadcasts Tuesday night reported his release along with more than 50 other North Americans seized in surprise raids. He has lived in Cuba over 30 years and serves as an official of an American owned sugar operation there.

B L Moreland known as Pete will retire July 14 as general foreman of Santa Fe in Silsbee after arriving in 1930. Mrs H M Seaman Dies In Houston
Word arrived of the death of Mrs. H M Seaman who died at 1 o clock Tuesday afternoon in Houston. She was the wife of Kirby Lumber Corporation’s former vice president and general manager and was well known locally. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning in Houston.

Larry Jackson Struck By Truck Breaks Leg
Larry Jackson eight son of Mr and Mrs W J Jackson of Silsbee sustained a broken right leg in a bicycle collision with a pulp wood truck Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to Hardin county hospital in Kountze and was reported doing well that night. The accident happened as he rode toward DeHart's grocery near his home after a companion crossed the highway. The truck driver attempted to stop but struck the bicycle from behind. He was transported by a Farmer Funeral Home ambulance.

Hardin County Sheriff William Whitaker called the weekend the worst July Fourth in 16 years as 50 people were jailed and one traffic fatality occurred. Robert T. Scott, 32, of Hillister was charged with murder by auto after a wreck north of Kountze that killed Mrs. Lloyd Daniels of Orange. Bond set at 2500, while Henry Bill York, 28, of Hillister, pleaded guilty to DWI and was fined and jailed.
