Wilson Heads Senate Banking Committee in East Texas
Senator Charles Wilson of Lufkin was named Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee last week by Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes. He also became vice chairman of Public Health and joined key panels on State Affairs Water and Conservation Parks and Wildlife Federal Programs and Relations Agriculture and Livestock Education State Departments and Institutions and Legislative Districts. Wilson credited Barnes for boosting East Texas influence as the Water Plan and school and tax measures loom in committee work.

TB Unit To Be Organized For 17 Area Counties
A tuberculosis association to serve Hardin and 15 surrounding counties will be organized Saturday February 15 by representatives meeting in Woodville from 1:30 to 4:30 p m at Woodville Elementary School. Joe K Wells of Austin, president of the Texas Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association, will preside. Steering committee members from each county will choose area headquarters a name for the association and form committees to staff personnel nominate officers and draft by laws. Counties represented include Angelina Chambers Hardin Houston Jasper Jefferson Liberty Nacogdoches Newton Orange Polk Sabine San Augustine Shelby Trinity and Tyler.
