Drainage and Sewer Master Plan Presented to Silsbee Council

A proposed trunk sanitary and drainage system for Silsbee was shown to the city council at a special meeting led by Spence Love and Dave Terrell of Charles Haile and Associates. The plan calls for covered storm sewers south of the railroad track to Highway 96 and replacing ditches between North Sixth and North Seventh with sodded or concrete lined channels to protect buildings from erosion. The $361000 project can be phased, starting with clearing lower reaches and widening select ditches to relieve current flooding. Mayor Frank McClanahan asked for a step by step final revision and immediate priority areas. Terrell favored covered sewers over concrete ditches due to right-of-way costs.
