Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mattie Shackelfer 87 at First Christian Church in Silsbee. A founder of local commerce, she arrived in 1903 with husband Sam Shackelfer and helped build the church. Burial followed at Resthaven with pallbearers and honorary members named. she is survived by daughter Mrs. Branham, a brother, seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Five people injured in a two car collision at the Loeb Kountze interchange north of Loeb. John Legginton and L G Sexton of Silsbee in fair condition after emergency care at Baptist hospital. Also injured were W A Teston 77 of Victor Mrs Teston and J J Miller 73 of Woodville in fair condition. Miller treated and released. Mrs Miller not injured. Patrolmen Sherrell Mayes and Baker investigated. About 1700 dollars in damage to the two cars.
