For four days Sikeston hosted the third annual Jaycee Boothee Rodeo at the VFW ball park drawing an estimated 17 500 to 20 000 fans. Producer Tommy Steiner led a smooth program featuring bronc riding calf roping bull dogging girls barrel races Brahma bull riding and the Joyce Emerson Calf Riding Contest. The event showcased top rodeo acts Bud Tillotson Swede Fuller Jim Muse and the Sema Mounted Shrine Patrol with Allan Bing providing superb organ music and Tom Hartley handling the announcements.

Mrs. Glennis Henry Dies After Traffic Night Incident
Mrs. Glennis Smith Henry 78 wife of Judge T. F. Henry died in sleep Monday night after a traffic accident near Oran while en route to the Chaffee Jubilee. Born May 23 1887 in Caledonia Mo she and her husband ran the Henry Tourist Home at 407 S Kings Hwy since 1925. Survived by her husband and son R Irvin Henry of Montyphis Tenn.

Charles Moore Emory, longtime East Prairie resident, died suddenly Saturday morning. Born November 3, 1876, son of the late Lucius J. and his wife, he was a New Bethel Baptist Church member and a 50-year Odd Fellows member of Charleston. Survived by five daughters, one sister, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five nieces, ten nephews.

Essex Boy 16 Killed on 60 Highway in Stoddard County
A sixteen year old named Robert Lee Barnes of Essex Rt. 2 was instantly killed Thursday afternoon after stepping from behind a parked car on 60 highway about a half mile in Stoddard county. He had missed the school bus and rode with Re ven Weston of New Castle Ind. As he stepped onto the highway he was struck by a car driven by Ern c Jones of Farmington Mo. Jones, an employee of the State Credit Bureau Poplar Bluff office, was en route from Sikeston to Farmington after visiting local merchants. The Highway Patrol notified Roy Rainer, Stoddard County coroner. The body was taken to the Strickland Rainer Funeral Home at Dexter Mo.
