Mr and Mrs C C Cummins escaped serious injury Sunday morning while en route to Sedalia for the American Legion state convention. After a several hour delay for repairs they pressed on. A St Louis driven coupe by Herbert Crump skidded into their car at the North Y, injuring Crump and two passengers Bill Graupner Fred Lindstrom all from St Louis. The Cummins sustained major damage but continued toward Sedalia.

Air College Opens Near Sikeston Training Army Reserve Pilots
The Missouri Institute of Aeronautics will launch as a primary training base one mile east of Sikeston on Highway 60. Three Die In Wreck Near Fredericktown Carnival Truck Collision
Three men died and three others were injured when a car and a carnival truck collided on Highway 61, eight miles south of Fredericktown Tuesday night. Russell Stewart and Dodd Combs were killed, as was a passenger Alonzo Stewart. Wilbur Crawford was critically injured. Two hitchhiker girls Inez Emery and Marie Walsh of St. Louis were seriously hurt while en route to Sikeston. The United American Shows carnival was traveling to Morehouse for an exhibition. Stewart's truck led the convoy.

Fatal Shooting This Morning on New Madrid Farm
Robert Alfred Epperson, 28, a New Madrid county sharecropper and father of four, was held for questioning after the fatal shooting of B. Everett Raidt, 49, a tenant farmer, on a large farm near Sikeston. The coroner's jury recommended further inquiry. The incident arose from a dispute over land use and parity payments. Raidt died before aid arrived.
