Funeral of Civic Leader W E Hollingsworth Today
Hundreds of friends gathered at the Methodist church to hear Rev John L Taylor deliver the eulogy for W E Hollingsworth known as Cousin Ed for his civic work and church service. He was born September 29 1883 in New Madrid County and moved to Sikeston in 1907. He owned multiple businesses including Hollingsworth Drug Store later Bowman Drug Store and served as Sikeston postmaster from 1929 to 1934. He died after brain tumor surgery at Barnes Hospital with a long record of church Masonry Kiwanis and civic leadership.

R C Caplinger right of way agent for the State Highway Department, stationed at Sikeston 12 years, was transferred to Jefferson City. Fellow workers hosted a dinner at Rustic Rock Inn with fifty officials and Division No 10 staff and spouses. He received a Gladstone bag as a token of esteem. Mrs Caplinger active in the Woman's Club. The couple have a son Boyd and a daughter Ruth residing in Jefferson City.

Science Instructor Weds St Louis Girl In April
The wedding of Orville Nothdurft science instructor at Sikeston High School and Miss Louise Hubbard of St Louis was announced. The ceremony took place at Maple Avenue Methodist Church St Louis on April 25 at 9:30. Attendants were Miss Margaret Upham and Charles French of St Louis. Mrs Nothdurft studied in Canyon City Colorado. Nothdurft, formerly Otis Kansas, is a graduate of the State Teachers College Cape Girardeau. He resigns from Sikeston and joins Western Cartridge in East Alton Illinois, in the technical department. A substitute will complete his Sikeston duties.
