Contestants Named In Wreck Sunday
Four Sikeston girls suffered painful bruises and cuts when their Studebaker sideswiped a truck on Highway 61 twelve miles south of Sikeston. Driver Daloma Moore, Miss Betty Barger, and passengers Mary Walker and Margaret Bowman were injured. The truck driver Burl Graham of San Antonio Texas was unhurt and helped the group with Trooper Boisaubin reporting.

Milner Called to Army Duty as Chaplain
Rev E W Milner longtime Sikeston Baptist pastor will report April 4 to Fort Bragg NC for active duty as a U S Army chaplain. He will resign as pastor upon receipt of the call, with 30 years in Sikeston and prior Navy service in World War I. His family will stay until school ends, and he will preach April 6 as a farewell.

End Nears for March Term of Scott County Court

A Bowmans Drug Store motor fire at 5 am Tuesday caused no damage. Sparks from a flue damaged Mrs. Evelyn Waters home on North street last Saturday. On Alabama street in Sunset addition two houses were badly damaged by fire Monday. The Fire Department quickly contained all fires during the past week.

Woman Hurt When Dump Truck Strikes Mrs Milem
Mrs Mary Milem was seriously hurt Tuesday night about 7 50 when struck by a dump truck driven by Carl Miller of Sikeston near Dr J H Kready s residence on North Stoddard Street. She suffered a brain concussion facial and head bruises minor body bruises and a broken right arm. She was taken to Sikeston General Hospital where she is convalescing. Her son Russell Milem of Sidney Ohio arrived to be with her. Rites held for sister Margarette Ann Bell at Commerce cemetery today. Mrs Bell a native of Commerce was widow of William Bell and later moved to St Louis. Another sister Mrs Josephine Clymer of St Louis survives.
