Nordberg 3200 HP Diesel Engine Sets Up in Sikeston Power Plant
The Sikeston Board of Public Works installs a new 3200 hp Nordberg diesel at the municipal light plant in the east part of town. Superintendent C H Moose says about 90 days are needed for placement and start up, including a new switchboard. The engine, third in a Nordberg series since 1935, reduces space after enlarging the powerhouse by 20 by 80 feet. Cost is 243600 dollars after credit for an old engine.

Three St Louisans Feared Drowned At Lake Wappapello
In Poplar Bluff Missouri on March 24 U S Army Engineers State Highway Patrol officers and volunteers searched for the bodies of three St Louis men believed drowned while fishing on Lake Wappapello The missing are Sergeant Earl F Hammett of the St Louis police Elmer Andrew Walker a mechanic and James H Squires a plasterer They arrived at a cabin and left with fishing gear and a new boat which has been found along with a gasoline can and life preserver about a quarter mile from shore Relatives have arrived to help in the search.

The Georgian Colonial brick veneer two story home has three bedrooms two baths on the second floor and a first floor including living dining breakfast kitchen and powder room. A large screened porch faces Mrs Limbaugh's father W C Bowman and a two car garage is on the opposite side. Completion is expected late next fall.

Sunset Woman Dies From School House Fire Burns
Mrs. Lizzie Johnson, 60, of 107 Thompson Street in Sunset addition, died at Missouri Delta Community Hospital after a fire destroyed her home Saturday afternoon. Her husband Jim Johnson suffered severe burns while trying to rescue her. Walter Griffin, a Sunset taxi driver, aided in rescuing both before firefighters arrived. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Sunset addition, with burial in Sunset cemetery.

Scott county Extension Agents Miss Lorene Hubbard and Tom B Stroup spent two days in Columbia for a training conference for trainer agents. Battle of the Setback ends with capture near Wyatt Missouri
A violent afternoon near Wyatt in Mississippi county saw a clash between numerous conservation agents and a single unarmed Black man, Marshall Williams. Williams fled a cabin, fired on agents injuring Hartel and Reed, then was tracked to a sharecropper’s cabin and captured after a brief chase. Williams, 36, admitted shooting the officers and faces three assault charges. Williams is held in Mississippi county jail pending further proceedings.
