No Rush Here For Guard Enlistments
Captain Lewis Conley of the 140th Infantry Headquarters Missouri National Guard says there is no rush to join Headquarters Company to gain exemption from the 21 month draft under the selective service law. Golden Wedding Anniversary for District Residents
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Werner celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday May 20 at their home near Cherryville Missouri from 2 to 4 p.m. They are long time Sikeston area residents and former Canaloa settlers who moved from Indiana 37 years ago. Mrs. Werner taught for thirty years and the couple moved to their present home in February 1947. Friends and relatives traveled from Lafayette Williamsport and West Lebanon Indiana and other parts of Missouri to attend. Their two daughters Mrs. J. H. Bandy Salem Missouri and Mrs. R. W. Taylor University City Missouri and their husbands helped host, with two granddaughters Joyce and Sharon Taylor in attendance.
