Judicial Department Rewrites Shape New Missouri Constitution
Jefferson City reports on the final debates of the Constitutional Convention over the Judiciary article. The panel streamlined the article from seventy to thirty six sections, created a flexible transfer system for judges, and set four year terms for the Chief Justice while preserving the non partisan court plan. The convention rejected alternate plans and granted the Supreme Court rule making power subject to General Assembly review.
