City Court Judge Schrader Rules On 20 Cases
Judge Schrader called 20 cases in city court Friday night. Ten involved alleged traffic violations with six intoxication issues and four disturbing the peace or interference charges. A Dixie Street residence in Franklin burned after an explosion around 2 55 am Sunday. Franklin Howard aged 76 and James Warfield aged 22, both trapped by flames, died and remain in hospital in serious condition respectively. Amanda Draper owner operator was babysitting at the time. Mishap Near New Madrid Claims Sikeston Man
Frederick Buck Butler aged 65, a retired railroad man of 419 Kendall Street, died in a highway crash about a mile north of New Madrid on Highway 61 at 4 45 a.m. He tried to avoid a left turning truck driven by Paul Dean Kidd and struck head on with a northbound car driven by F L Mounce. Butler pronounced dead on arrival at Missouri Delta Community Hospital. Mounce admitted for injuries. Butler survived by wife Pearl and eight children including Eddie, Herman, Frederick Jr, Charles Eugene, Cora LeSieur Cahokia Illinois, Lucille Reno Marston Missouri, Jessie Smith Jonesboro Arkansas, Eva Alameda Rose Sikeston.

Funeral Held Monday For Harold Chewning
Funeral services were conducted at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel Sikeston for Harold Chewning with Rev Wade Cochran presiding. Burial followed in Pollard Cemetery near Ben. He was born February 25 1912 in Chaffee to James and Mary Jane Phelps Chewning and died at Delta Community Hospital. Survivors include two brothers Jack Chewning Washington DC and Ural Chewning Sikeston two sisters Fly Chewning Jersey City NJ and Mrs Harold Cope Sikeston. He was a member of the Baptist church.
