Woman Struck by Bullet While Fishing Near Rail Haven
Mrs. Ruby Brewer, 25, of near Morehouse was wounded in the neck by a .22 rifle shot while fishing on a drainage ditch near Rail Haven Auto Court last Sunday afternoon. Two boys aged 16 and 15 will face juvenile court after admitting to firing a rifle in the area. Mrs. Brewer was rushed to Missouri Delta Community Hospital and dismissed this morning. The boys said they fired at birds on a light pole, with six shots total, the sixth striking Mrs. Brewer.

Electric cooperative manager heads to Washington trip
H M Zaricor manager of the Scott New Madrid Mississippi Electric Cooperative and Mrs Zaricor left by car for Washington and the East for about ten days. In Washington Zaricor will attend a U S Senate committee meeting on behalf of funds for the Southwestern Power Administration. Missouri Rural Electrification supporters will also attend. Reports say Southwestern Power Administration plans a 154000 volt Bull Shoals to Southeast Missouri line and surveys for high voltage from Bull Shoals to Marshfield Rolla and Springfield along with a 110000 volt line west and southwest of Springfield. The House approved 9 million dollars for SPA with four million in funds and five million in contract authorizations. Mrs John Scott and daughter Jackie of Neosho Mo joined Mr Scott and are staying at Park Avenue apartments. Mr Scott has employment.

Two Women Die In Rainy Highway Crash Near Lutesville
A sister and sister in law of E F Mouser of Sikeston were killed when their car collided with a truck on Highway 51 eight miles north of Lutesville during a heavy rainstorm. Cleve Mouser survived with minor injuries. Avery Mouser was critically injured. Funeral plans and family details follow. Frank Stanley Named Alternate Delegate to 4-H Camp

National Guard heads to Arcadia rifle range Saturday
Officers and enlisted men of Headquarters Company of the First Battalion 140th Infantry Missouri National Guard will depart Sikeston Saturday morning for Arcadia for a two day rifle range test near the town. Scheduled attendees include Lieut Col Herb Wickham Major James Ingle Captain Lewis Conley Major Oscar Hudson Lieut Marcus French Captain Robert Hunter Second Lieut Herb Stone and others with corps and recruits. The Arcadia range, an old Army installation near Jefferson Barracks, has served troops for over fifty years. J S Wallace, recently home on North Kingshighway, is reported improved.
