Delayed 1943 Farm Payments Due to Treasury Shortage
Bert Femmer of New Madrid County ACA explains about 2000 1943 farm payments approved by the State ACA and scheduled for payment. Delays stem from Treasury Department workload and staff shortages at the St. Louis Disbursing Office. Payments will likely be released soon, covering about 90 percent of total 1943 farm payments. Automobile use tax stamps go on sale June 16
The $5 automobile use tax stamp for the coming year will go on sale June 16 in post offices and internal revenue collectors' offices. This will cover the tax for the fiscal year beginning July 1, and must be displayed in windshields after that date. No person under the age of twenty-one years shall drive any motor vehicle while in use as a school bus for the transportation of pupils to or from school.
