Patriotic residents of Sikeston Morley and Morehouse donated 1535 pounds of aluminum and thousands of pieces during aluminum days last Thursday and Friday. The material was hauled to Benton and sent to St. Louis for sale to smelters. Proceeds and services were profit for the government with Boy Scouts aiding in the effort.

John Thompson known as Jack, a 50 year old local peddler, was found dead in bed at his Fletcher street home Friday morning. Doctors and Coroner Clyde Poe ruled death from natural causes due to heart ailment. He lived with his step father Bill Briggs and sold various goods in season. Funeral services were held Sunday with burial in Sikeston city cemetery. he is survived by his brother Tom Thompson of near Morehouse.

Vanduser Man Dies At Home Of Son
William Logan Hamby aged 82 died Sunday at the Vanduser home of his son Val Hamby. Rev. Parrott and Rev. Patterson officiated the funeral at the home church Caldwell Springs Baptist Church in Kentucky with interment there. Born February 7, 1859 in Crittenden County Kentucky, he is survived by his son Pratt Hamby of Morley and Lacy Hamby of Princeton and Mrs Nannie Morse of Princeton, plus two other sons, a daughter, twenty two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Samuel Mason, 69, of Bertrand died at Sikeston General Hospital after being struck on Highway 60 near Miner while crossing from a truck driven by Lee Mason. A watermelons truck driven by Irving Stratton of Grand Rapids, Mich., overturned to avoid him. passenger H D Oliver of East Prairie was not hurt.
