Engram Rites Held For Sikeston Youth
Funeral services for Paul I. Engram 25 of Sikeston were held at the Sikeston Baptist church with Rev. E W Milner and Rev. John L Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery. Engram died after a July 5 crash near Sikeston when his 1937 Chevrolet collided with a truck, injuring no one on the truck. Surviving relatives include his parents two brothers and two sisters. He had recently opened a real estate business.

Tom Stanford, 45, was critically wounded by a shotgun discharge during a scrap in Tin Can Alley behind Mrs John Fisher’s residence. Doyle Lyons, 66, was arrested after fleeing to a cabin on J. W. Dr. C T Old, Sikeston veterinarian, was elected president of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association at the Excelsior Springs meeting. He previously served as vice president and was the only Southeast Missouri veterinarian at the gathering of about 200 attendees from roughly 400 members. The next annual meeting will be in Joplin on an undetermined date. During the year he will attend six district meetings and oversee the state organization.

School Board Buys First Bus for Sikeston Area
Members of the Board of Education in a special meeting bought a new GMC chassis bus with a Carpenter body for 60 pupils. The bus, orange and black, will serve outlying districts to Sikeston High School starting September. Route covers Sikeston to Salcedo to Tanner and beyond, with 1.5 hours driving time each way. The purchase, at 3175 dollars, is the first school bus in the district. Leon W. Angles of Lexington, Mo., will become coordinator for the high school, succeeding Wm. E. Mahew who will lead Kewanee public schools next term.
